Severn Residents Sound Off on Super Bowl Ads
A quick look at what people in Severn think about the commercials from last night's big game.
For many, the best part of the Super Bowl doesn’t take place on the field, it happens on our television screens.
During the Super Bowl, millions of dollars are spent in a matter of seconds as some of the largest companies in the U.S. scurry to grab the public’s attention. This year was no different, with major brands like Doritos’s, Pepsi, Volkswagen and many others producing memorable advertisements that made us laugh, or even scoff.
Melanie Greenhill, a PTA volunteer at Ridgeway Elementary and local mom, said she enjoyed the ads, but was disappointed with GoDaddy.com's attempts at marketing.

"I loved the Volkswagen advertisement with the little boy with the Darth Vader outfit. It appealed as it was the type of prank we would play on our kids and it was so innocent. I liked it as it made me laugh, does an ad have to do more than that?" she said. "I hated the Go Daddy ads as they belittled women . Again."

Volkswagen Turns to the Dark Side
A miniature Darth Vader tries to use “the force” throughout the house until Dad offers a helping hand.
Doritos Save Grandpa
In a suspenseful yet hysterical skit, Doritos made it seem there may be some healing powers in their lunchtime snack.
Don't Hit Reply All
For those of you working in an office, you especially appreciated Bridgestone's "Reply All" commercial. Many people have accidentally hit "reply all," and the reality of the ad made it all the more enjoyable.
Surprise Hysterics from Homeaway.com
A crash-test baby hitting the wall never seemed so funny. I still don’t know what this commercial was about, but I know I laughed hard enough to remember it.
Sticky Fingers for Doritos
Another playful take at the addictive qualities of the chip.
Eminem Does a Double take
The rapper from Detroit made two different appearances in Super Bowl ads last night, in a quite uncharacteristic fashion. One for Brisk iced tea, and the other for Chrysler.
Groupon Controversy
Most of the commercials last night were comical or predominantly light-hearted, but Groupon stirred up some controversy with this ad, minimizing political problems in Tibet for the sake of marketing.
