Mom Arrested, Late Toddler Found With Opioids In System: Anne Arundel Police

A mother was arrested in her 2-year-old's death. Opioids were found in the late toddler's system, police said.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A Glen Burnie woman was charged with involuntary manslaughter after her late toddler was found with opioids in its system, police announced Wednesday.

Officers said 34-year-old Tiffany Lynee Carr was also charged with child neglect, reckless endangerment and related offenses.

Authorities said they were called to the 8000 block of Winding Wood Road in Glen Burnie on Aug. 17 around 7:15 p.m. for an unresponsive 2-year-old.

Police said they found the unresponsive child lying face down inside the home.

The child was later pronounced deceased at an area hospital, a press release said.

Homicide detectives then collected evidence and conducted interviews.

Officers said the child's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, where an autopsy found the opioids.

Authorities are still investigating.
