No Tips Yet in Chapelgate Shooting Case

Anne Arundel County police said they've received not a single call offering information on the identity of a man who shot through a window of an Odenton home Monday, injuring a young girl. 

During a community meeting with nearly 200 people at Waugh Chapel Elementary School, county police chief Kevin Davis said he was surprised that no one had stepped forward with some bits of information. 

"We've had zero calls. I'll take a bad tip right now," Davis said. "Pick up a phone and call."

Police have stepped up patrols in the Chapelgate section of Odenton this week after responding to the shooting incident on Cadbury Drive. A homeowner, Aaron Moulton, said his 19-month-old daughter was struck by glass and a bullet fragment after someone shot through the window Monday night. 

Police described the suspect as a black man with a thin build, standing between 5 feet, 10 inches and 6 feet tall He was wearing dark jeans, a black and gray jacket and a black winter cap. Witnesses reported seeing him carrying a shotgun. 

Detectives are also on the lookout for a red or maroon car, believed to be either a Ford Crown Victoria or Mercury Marquis that was seen in the area Monday. 

Moulton, his wife, and his two daughters are currently staying at another location for their safety. Moulton said he believes he may have been targeted because he was outspoken in his efforts to form a community association to address concerns over criminal activity in Chapelgate. 

He was complimentary of the response of local police officers, and said Davis personally stopped by his house on Tuesday morning to check on the family. 

Police on Thursday acknowledged the presence of some drug activity in the area, and said they continue to look for two suspects in connection to a shooting in July on Chapelview Drive. 

Davis urged residents to continue the efforts to form a community association. He also said he hoped to organize a community walk with citizens to point out troublesome areas. 

"If we need to step up our game, we'll step up our game," Davis.
