Overnight Porch Fire at The Groves

It took firefighters approximately 10 minutes to extinguish a porch fire at The Groves apartment complex in Odenton early Saturday.

Flames were showing from the third floor of a three-story apartment building when firefighters arrived at the 700 block of Linden Grove Place in Piney Orchard, Anne Arundel County Fire Battalion Chief Matthew Tobia said.

“[Firefighters] were quickly able to extinguish a small fire on the deck of the apartment,” Tobia said. Fire crews initially arrived at the scene at 12:40 a.m., he said.

No injuries occurred during the fire and the flames were contained to the balcony area. Tobia said the fire department is still gauging how much damage occurred from the incident. 

The incident is under investigation.
