Police to Press State on Route 170 Traffic
Residents said there is too much traffic on Telegraph Road north of Donaldson Avenue.

Anne Arundel County police said they will ask the State Highway Administration to study traffic along a busy stretch of Route 170 in Severn and Hanover, following complaints from the community about the congested roadway.
Local residents on Wednesday reiterated their concerns at a meeting of Western District Police-Community Relations Council in Odenton. Acting Capt. Thomas J. Kohlmann, the commanding officer for Western District, said the concerns have been brought to the attention of Police Chief Kevin Davis, who speaks frequently with SHA officials.
Specifically, residents said the roadway becomes too backed up in the area north of Donaldson Avenue, and getting onto the road from side streets is challenging. They also said the cycle of the light at Route 170 and Donaldson Avenue should be studied.
The concern over traffic comes as new homes are planned for the area.
"You guys have a legitimate gripe," Kohlmann said. "The traffic is crazy up there."
