Popular Toy Store Returning With New Anne Arundel County Location

Toys"R"Us is opening new stores in Maryland, seven years after the toy store closed all of its stand-alone locations.

The business is opening a flagship store at Arundel Mills mall in Hanover and a seasonal holiday shop at The Mall in Columbia.

The Hanover store isn’t open, but the Columbia location is.

The locations are among eight permanent and 20 temporary stores announced in an Oct. 16 press release.

The release said additional openings will be announced soon. The Toys"R"Us website says over 30 stores will open in the U.S. this holiday season.

The new stores are a comeback for Toys"R"Us, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2017. A year later, the chain permanently closed all of its remaining U.S. locations. In 2022, multiple Toys"R"Us locations opened up inside Macy's stores.

The Macy’s at The Mall in Columbia already has a Toys"R"Us. The seasonal holiday shop is an additional store at the mall and is located to the left of Aldo.
