LINTHICUM HEIGHTS, MD — The Savannah Bananas, often called the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball, are playing in Baltimore this Friday and Saturday.

Thanks to Dunkin', fans are getting even closer to the Bananas' backflip catches, player on stilts and choreographed dances.

Dunkin' gave a youth baseball team tickets to one of the games, and Bananas players will visit an Anne Arundel County Dunkin' to meet fans before their second game.

On Tuesday evening, Dunkin' surprised South Baltimore Little League's 12U team with tickets to Friday night's game. The team recently advanced to the state tournament and finished in third place, the best result for a 12U team from South Baltimore Little League in over 50 years.

"We recognize their hard work and know how much the Bananas mean to young athletes who look up to them as a source of inspiration," Jamie Struwe, Dunkin' senior field marketing manager, told Patch in a statement. "It's all part of our commitment to supporting the communities we serve."

The Bananas are known for their fans-first approach that adds an extra level of excitement to America's pastime. If a fan catches a foul ball on the fly, the batter is out. When a pitcher throws ball four, the batter doesn't walk to first base; he instead sprints around as many bases as possible until every player on defense has touched the ball.

Fans of Banana Ball, as this baseball variation is called, can meet Bananas players this Saturday morning at the Linthicum Heights Dunkin'.

"This is a great opportunity for fans who couldn't snag tickets to the sold-out games at Camden Yards to still meet the Bananas and be part of the fun," Struwe said.

Players from the Bananas and the Firefighters, Savannah's opponent, will be at the coffee shop from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Players will go behind the counter to serve orders and treat guests to free giveaways at the Dunkin' located at 714 Nursery Road.

"As the official coffee and breakfast partner of the Savannah Bananas, Dunkin' is proud to help fuel the 'Greatest Show in Sports' as they bring their high-energy game to Baltimore's iconic Camden Yards this weekend," Struwe said. "We love having players visit our stores to meet fans and fuel up for the big game."
