Shop Small in the Odenton Area

It's Small Business Saturday on Nov. 30, and many local businesses are holding special promotions and rolling out their holiday products. 

Anne Arundel County Economic Development Corp. is working to promote local businesses on social media. While you shop this weekend, take pictures of your local businesses and use the hashtag #ShopSmallAA on Twitter or on the AAEDC Facebook page. You'll be entered to win a $50 American Express Gift Card. 

Here's a sample of some small businesses in the Odenton area that you can support on Saturday. 


Oasis Consignments, - Everything in the store is 20 percent off on Saturday. Owners Debra Hoffmaster and Alexis Davis said there is a strong inventory of fancy clothes for the Christmas holiday, plus coats and other warm items. Also, all shoes and boots will be 30 percent off on Black Friday, if you want to avoid the malls. 

Gambrills General Store -   The shop has rolled out its inventory of small gift items, including ornaments, toy sets and variety of handmade items. Also, the store is still the go-to place for wood pellets, firewood and propane, along with anything your animals might need for winter. 

Odenton Ace Hardware - Your humble Patch editor can attest to the good selection of holiday lights at low prices, plus a lot of other good deals. Everything in the store is 20 percent off on Friday before 10 a.m. There are other deals that run through Dec. 1, including cordless drills for under $100. Ace Rewards members get instant savings, including $50 in points if you spend $500.
