Slippery Roads Reported in Odenton Area
An SUV flipped over on its side on Waugh Chapel Road.
Sleet and freezing rain fell on the Odenton area Sunday afternoon, creating some slippery road surfaces.
There were reports of several accidents in the area, including one involving an SUV that tipped over on Waugh Chapel Road.
Anne Arundel County Public Schools said no decision has been made regarding Monday's school schedule, but that officials were monitoring weather and road conditions.
The West County Area Library was closed Sunday due to the weather.
A winter weather advisory was in effect until 7 a.m. Monday. The National Weather Service predicted and inch or two of snow and ice followed by two-tenths of an inch of ice. Freezing rain was expected overnight, switching over to rain by morning.
The Maryland State Highway Association urged caution and asked motorists to check md511.org for information on road conditions.
