Coffee Shop Opening Drive-Thru 100 Yards From Existing Location
A coffee shop is opening a new drive-thru in Anne Arundel County. The chain already has another location about a football field away.

ODENTON, MD — Starbucks is opening a new stand-alone coffee shop along Maryland Route 175 in the Odenton Shopping Center.
The shop will be located about a football field away from a supermarket that already has a Starbucks inside.
"Starbucks is always looking for great locations to better meet the needs of our customers," a company spokesperson told Patch in an email. "We are happy to confirm that we will be opening a new location at 1161 Annapolis Road in Odenton, MD during July of 2025."

The shop will replace Old Line Bank, which has been closed for several years. Patch first noticed construction to convert the site in October 2024.
The site will feature a drive-thru and dine-in seating.

Spanning 3,167 square feet, the Starbucks will have about 15 employees. The location will be owned by Starbucks, not an independent operator who licenses the brand's name.
"As a standard course of business, we continually evaluate our store portfolio, using various criteria to ensure we are meeting the needs of our customers," Starbucks said. "We look forward to continuing to serve the Odenton community at this new location."
The forthcoming Starbucks is located about 100 yards from Giant Food, which already has a licensed Starbucks open inside. Employees at the Starbucks in the grocery store have said their shop will remain in business when the new location opens.
This plan mirrors the two Starbucks locations in the nearby Waugh Chapel Towne Centre in Gambrills. Starbucks has an outpost inside the shopping center's Target and a full location a baseball's throw away in a separate strip of businesses.
Both of these Gambrills locations have a steady flow of customers, suggesting the same strategy may pay off in Odenton.
