State Could Cut ICC Bus to Fort Meade

The Maryland Transit Administration said ridership has been low on three routes along the 18-mile road.

The state of Maryland is considering eliminating bus routes along the Intercounty Connector (ICC), including one that transports workers to and from Fort Meade.

Commuter bus 202, which travels during weekday rush hour between Gaithersburg and Fort Meade, is one of three that could be on the chopping block due to low ridership. The state is holding a series of hearings in June to hear feedback from the public.

Routes between Columbia and Bethesda and College Park and Germantown could also be cut.

"These bus routes have fallen short of ridership and cost recovery goals," the MTA said in an advisory.

MTA said it has targeted August 1 as the end date for the bus routes. A route from Gaithersburg to BWI Airport is not on the chopping block.
