From now through New Year's Day, Patch is counting down the most-read and most interesting stories in the Odenton-Severn area. Today, we take a look at the top stories from January. 

Italian Market Closes - This was a blow to the Village at Waugh Chapel, especially after the closure of Damon's Grill next door. The good news is that we recently learned that Grotto Pizza will fill the space in 2014. 

New Orleans Kitchen Remains Closed - The community was baffled when the well-regarded restaurant in Severn closed up shop just before the holidays last year. It remained closed, despite efforts to find new partners. 

Cyber Command to Expand to Nearly 5,000 - It's always been difficult to get hard projections on how big the U.S. Cyber Command is expected to get at Fort Meade. But officials in January released numbers suggesting the agency could grow to 4,900 workers over the next several years. 

Fort Meade Opens New USO Center - Stars from the WWE were on hand in January at the opening of a new USO center on the installation, complete with flat-screen TV's, wi-fi and other comforts. Less than a month later, soldiers gathered there to watch the Ravens win the Super Bowl. 

Odenton, Gambrills Residents Charged in Multi-State Drug Bust - Ten Anne Arundel County Residents were charged as part of a drug trafficking investigation that began in Severn, according to the Justice Department.
