Three Killed in Accident on Piney Orchard Parkway - The driver and three passengers of a car had blood alcohol levels above the legal limit when their car smashed into a pole on Easter morning. Three people people died another was seriously hurt. 

Community to be Briefed on Piney Orchard Cell Tower Plan -  In April, we learned about plans from Milestone Communications to place a cell tower at Piney Orchard Elementary School. This led to a showdown between Milestone, the school board and residents who were opposed to the plan. Milestone has since withdrawn its plans, but efforts by the county council to ban cell towers at schools failed. 

Fatal Motorcycle Accident on Route 100 - A LaPlata man died when he crashed into the rear of a box truck on April 6. Police said speed was a contributing factor in the death of 27-year-old James Henderson.

Arundel Student to Serve on State Board - Christian Hodges, then a junior at Arundel High, was selected to serve on the Maryland State Board of Education for the 2013-14 school year. 

Perry Miliotis Dies - The longtime owner of Perry's restaurant in Odenton died on April 18. He was remembered as a strong businessman and pillar of the community.
