Firefighters rescued a 29-year-old Reisterstown man Thursday morning after he was involved in a two-vehicle collision on I-795.
"The collision is suspected to be alcohol-related," according to a news release from Maryland State Police. That's because "an odor of alcohol" was coming from the driver of one of the cars, a Honda, it states.
The driver of one vehicle, whose name police have not yet released, had been trapped in his vehicle, and was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma in serious condition, according to the release.
The collision occurred at 2:26 a.m. Thursday on northbound I-795 near Franklin Boulevard, the release states.
"Preliminary investigation revealed a 1999 Honda which was traveling northbound I-795 prior to Franklin Boulevard stopped in the roadway for unknown reasons," and the driver of a 2008 Chevrolet traveling in the same direction struck the Honda in the rear.
The driver of the Honda is now in serious but stable condition, according to the release.
The roadway was closed for more than two hours while troopers investigated.
