Baltimore County Public Library to Participate in Maryland STEM Festival 2016

BCPL's branches will offer nearly 30 free STEM events during the Maryland STEM Festival November 4-13.

BALTIMORE, MD – The Baltimore County Public Library (BCPL) is a participant in Maryland STEM Festival, a ten-day series of events throughout the state that focus on science, technology, engineering and math. BCPL’s branches will offer nearly 30 free STEM events during the initiative, which runs from November 4 through November 13.

The majority of BCPL’s branches will participate in the STEM Festival, offering programs such as “Electric Art Lab” (Catonsville, Hereford, Parkville-Carney); “Make a Cartesian Diver” (Arbutus); “Minecraft Monday” (Reisterstown); “Makerspace: Drawbots” (Towson); and many more. In addition to libraries, festival events will take place in science centers, museums, colleges, universities, schools, and parks across Maryland. All BCPL events are listed here.

“This year’s STEM Festival is packed with thought-provoking programs at venues throughout the state,” said BCPL Director Paula Miller. I’m excited by the myriad of programs our branches have scheduled and hope they will inspire a new generation of innovators.”

The Maryland STEM Festival aims to encourage Marylanders to see STEM education, skills and careers as significant parts of their lives. The Festival is one of the new statewide events that is open to everyone and is (for the most part) free. Information is at marylandstemfestival.org.
