Generous Oak Crest Residents Support Students’ Futures Through Scholarship Fund
High school graduates were honored at a ceremony celebrating the Student Scholarship Fund at Oak Crest

Earlier this spring, 46 local high school graduates were honored at a ceremony celebrating the Student Scholarship Fund at Oak Crest, an Erickson Senior Living community in Parkville, MD.
These dedicated student team members, who worked as servers and hosts across the community’s eight on-campus restaurants, demonstrated outstanding commitment to service and professionalism.
To recognize their dedication and propel their promising futures, Oak Crest residents generously donated more than $207,000 to the Student Scholarship Fund, with nearly 700 generous residents participating. The Resident Advisory Council and committee played a key role in interviewing and selecting this year’s scholarship recipients.

To qualify for a four-year scholarship, a student must work a minimum number of hours, maintain good academic and professional standing, and plan to attend a college, university, or trade school full-time.
“Our student scholars truly understand the value of these scholarships,” says Executive Director Mark Roussey. “We’re incredibly grateful to our residents for their generosity. These awards make a lasting difference in our students' lives.”

Since 1996, the Oak Crest Student Scholarship Fund has awarded more than $3.8 million in financial aid to 1,064 student workers through resident contributions to help advance their collegiate careers.
In honor of Oak Crest’s 30th anniversary, this year’s ceremony featured a special video entitled “Where Are They Now”, highlighting 30 students who started as Oak Crest Scholars who are now leaders throughout the Erickson Senior Living enterprise. Morgan Dilks, legal counsel at Erickson Senior Living’s home office, served as the keynote speaker. Morgan began his career at Oak Crest as a server. Resident Peggy Rowe, New York Times best-selling author, also spoke, offering students practical words of wisdom and congratulations.
