This Week: Weber's Hiring, Overlea's New Principal, Grandchildren Talent Show

What you need to know to get through your week in Parkville Overlea.

The weekend is behind us and it's back to the grind; here's what you need to know to get you through to next weekend.

Weather: After a brutally hot and humid week, you can expect it to cool off—relatively speaking—this week; This Accuweather.com shows highs in the mid-80s.

What You're Saying: Weber's Cider Mill Farm (which, if you didn't already know opened for the season last week) just posted an announcement to Patch to let you know they're hiring. Fun fact: A certain Patch local editor is married to a former Weber's Cider Mill Farm employee.

Got something you want to say? Post it on our boards! Who knows? Maybe we'll feature it in one of these round-ups.

What's Happening? Parkville Senior Center has a couple of cool events for kids/grandkids coming up this week. On Wednesday all manner of wildlife from Oregon Ridge Park will stop by at 1 p.m. and on Thursday the center hosts a "Grandchildren Talent Show."

Trying to get exposure for an event? Post it to our calendar.

What Did You Miss? For headlines from around the state, check out this post. Also of interest: over the weekend Patch intern Sonia Su got some great video of personal chef Mark Tafoya demonstrating how to make pickles at Artscape. Fun fact: Pickles are really good.

What Am I Working On? If you read last week's story about Overlea High School earning a new graphic communication accreditation, and you are an astute reader, then you might have noticed that the school has a new principal.

Baltimore County Public Schools spokeswoman Diana Spencer tells me that former principal Elizabeth "Penny" Parker has retired.

We should have an interview with new principal Dr. Marquis Dwarte this week.

Bonus: Number of days until the Baltimore Ravens show us they're capable of a repeat this year in a preseason contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? 18.
