A fire in an Elkton townhouse caused an estimated $30,000 damage on Friday, but no injuries were reported, according to the fire marshal.
ELKTON, MD — A kitchen fire in an Elkton townhouse caused an estimated $30,000 damage on Friday, but no injuries were reported, according to the state fire marshal's office.
The fire in the two-story residence was reported at 12:18 p.m. at 451 Booth St. in the Cecil County community.
While the townhouse had smoke alarms, investigators don't know if they were activated.

A neighbor reported the fire, which was extinguished in 30 minutes by the Singerly Fire Company, officials said.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Authorities said the townhome's residents have been displaced and are being assisted by family.
