Resident Burned Trying To Put Out Rising Sun House Fire

A resident suffered burns trying to put out a Rising Sun house fire that caused $30,000 damage, the state fire marshal said.

RISING SUN, MD — A resident suffered minor burns trying to put out a Rising Sun house fire Saturday that caused $30,000 damage on, the state fire marshal said.

The fire in a one-story home was reported just before 3 p.m. at 1391 Joseph Biggs Memorial Highway.

A resident discovered the fire on the exterior of the brick house, and was burned trying to extinguish the flames. The fire marshal's office said the resident refused medical care.

The Community Fire Company of Rising Sun had the ire under control in about 25 minutes.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
