The renovations, which began in November, include a full-size passenger elevator, a modified storefront entrance, new automatic sliding doors, renovations of the lobby, replacing stairs and installing three tutoring rooms, said Bob Hughes, spokesman for Baltimore County Public Library.
Half of the cost of renovations will be reimbursed through a grant from the Maryland Department of Education's Division of Library Development and Services, Hughes said. The original estimated cost was $510,000, and county library officials are proud that the project was completed under budget.
