Blog: Kids Need Time to Play

On The Associated's Jewish Baltimore Blog March 12, Jacki Ashkin of Jewish Community Services explores whether kids' time is overscheduled these days.

"When I recall my childhood, I remember spontaneous games of dodge ball and Red Rover in our neighborhood; spending hours in the woods behind our houses exploring tree forts, pretending we were special agents being chased by 'bad guys,' " she writes.

"... Today, children’s lives seem more structured and scheduled—dare I say, over-scheduled. ... It sometimes seems raising children has become a competitive sport."
