Good morning, Potomac! It’s Monday morning, a new week and time to get started with today’s “5 Things.” Among our offerings: weather, some interesting tidbits and a few quick notes.
1. The beginning of our week will be sunny and chilly, while we may see some cloud cover and high temperatures in the later part of the week. Today will be sunny with a high of 45, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight will stay clear with lows dropping to 28. Tuesday and Wednesday will be similar, though Thursday may see some rain.
2. is launching a nationwide contest to find the best-dressed home in its Patch communities, and the winner’s school district will receive $100,000, no strings attached. Beginning on Dec. 8 and continuing through Dec. 26, you can nominate your home by uploading a photo to the contest entry form on the site.
3. So this was fun: Last week #MCPS, a search term that stands for Montgomery County Public Schools, was a trending topic on Twitter. Not because of Superintendent Joshua Starr’s same-day budget presentation, but because students mistakenly thought the school system was placing a county-wide ban on yoga pants.
4. December is here and it’s a time that many start decorating for the holidays. If you’re in the market for a fresh-cut Christmas tree, Patch has the low-down.
5. Are you a social media buff? Do you love to share and connect with your community online?
