September fun and the birthday of our national anthem welcome you to Wednesday.

Good morning, Potomac, and welcome to Wednesday. Here are your "5 Things" to begin your day:

1. Today should be mostly sunny, with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service. The NWS reports a possibility of rain in the late morning and early afternoon, and then a possible thunderstorm after 1 p.m. We can expect a high of 87 and a low around 63.

2. Are you and your family looking for weekend activities to keep busy now that school has started and fall is here? You’re in luck! .

4. On September 14, 1812 our national anthem was born. During the War of 1812, Francis Scott Key wrote “Defence of Fort McHenry” while witnessing the British bombardment of Fort McHenry in the Battle of Baltimore. The poem later became “The Star Spangled Banner.”
