Good morning, Potomac, and welcome to Wednesday. We have a few things to catch you up for the day, as well as a couple of notices for the weekend:
1. As you are out and about today, please remember that the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for the area in effect through Saturday. Motorists are advised to avoid driving through streets covered in water.
2. On top of a general flood watch, we have a flood watch in effect for the Potomac River at Little Falls issued through Saturday as well. The water stage is expected to rise to 13 feet, according to the National Weather Service. Flood stage is at 10 feet.
3. As expected with all of these flood watches, today’s forecast includes rain. And more rain. According to the NSW, we could see some heavy rainfall and thunderstorms throughout the day. Highs are expected to reach 81, with a low of 69.
4. On the bright side, we have a few stories for you to check out if you haven’t already. Of particular interest is this week’s “Mom’s Talk: Explaining 9/11 to Kids,” where members of our Moms Council discuss how they will explain, or are explaining, the tragedy to their children. Do you have a particular method for broaching difficult subjects to young kids? Let us know in the comments.
5. Now that we’re at hump day, remember to check our events calendar for the weekend’s goings-on. A few highlights include: a public preview of C&O Lockhouse 10 on Saturday, a Saturday/Sunday chocolate factory tour in Gaithersburg and a Friday football game at Winston Churchill.
