A Glimpse at Temple Beth Ami's History

, which now sits on Travilah Road, grew from the dedication of nine founding families who met in the basements of houses and rec rooms of area high schools and churches to begin one of northwest Montgomery County’s first Jewish Reform Congregations.
From 1971 through the mid-90s, as the D.C. suburbs attracted more and more families, the congregation of Beth Ami experienced tremendous growth. First doubling and then tripling in members, the congregation outgrew its first temple located on Hurley Avenue and today houses over 1,000 households at its new location on Travilah Road.
