In Maryland, the top three suggestions are Patapsco Valley State Park, Sugarloaf Mountain and Swallow Falls State Park. The top locations in D.C. might even be a little closer: Rock Creek Park, Constitution Gardens and the C&O Canal National Historic Park, all in Northwest.
Close by are also the top three areas in Virginia, including Great Falls National Park, Skyline Drive and the Mount Vernon estate.
