Fall Foliage Finds: Maryland's Top Leaf-Spotting Venues

Attention, Fall Foliage Fiends: The air is cooling, pumpkins sit waiting to be carved and mall mannequins are sporting autumnal sweaters in every boutique and mall. Fall, arguably the most colorful season of the year, is here.

If you're a nature lover or just someone who appreciates the beauty of the passing of time, this weekend is the perfect time to get out on the road to take in the fall foliage.

In Maryland, the top three suggestions are Patapsco Valley State Park, Sugarloaf Mountain and Swallow Falls State Park. The top locations in D.C. might even be a little closer: Rock Creek Park, Constitution Gardens and the C&O Canal National Historic Park, all in Northwest.

Close by are also the top three areas in Virginia, including Great Falls National Park, Skyline Drive and the Mount Vernon estate.
