Man Armed With Nail Gun Charged With Robbing Bank In Potomac: Police

A Germantown man was arrested Wednesday morning in connection with a bank robbery Tuesday afternoon in Potomac, police said.

POTOMAC, MD — A Germantown man was arrested Wednesday morning in connection with a bank robbery Tuesday afternoon in Potomac, Montgomery County Police said.

Detectives from the police department’s major crimes division arrested Kevin Figueroa-Funez, 24, and charged him with robbing a bank.

At about 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to the report of a robbery at the Capital One Bank in the 10200 block of River Rd., near the intersection with Falls Road in Potomac.

Detectives determined that Figueroa-Funez entered the bank armed with a nail gun, approached an employee behind the counter and passed a note announcing the robbery and demanding money, police said. The employee complied and handed over an undisclosed amount of money to Figueroa-Funez, who then left the scene, according to police.

In their investigation, police identified Figueroa-Funez as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant, charging him with armed bank robbery. He was arrested Wednesday morning on Churchill Ridge Circle in Germantown and taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond, police said.
