• Nationals sign home-grown talent Mervis (mymcmedia.org) — A Potomac native could soon be wearing a Nationals uniform, as first baseman Matt Mervis has signed a minor league deal with Washington and received a spring training invite. The Georgetown Prep alum, previously in the Cubs and Marlins systems, now has a real shot to bolster the Nats’ unsettled first base situation for the 2026 season.
   

• The Village Movement helps seniors age in place in Montgomery County (thebanner.com) — Potomac is one of several Montgomery County communities where “Village” networks help older residents age safely at home with volunteer rides, errands, and social activities. A new Village is forming in Boyds, and organizers are expanding the model beyond traditionally wealthier Downcounty areas like Bethesda, Chevy Chase, North Bethesda, and Potomac to reach more isolated neighborhoods.
