Police say a struggle ensued, and continued into to home. During struggle the resident of the home was shot. The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The shooting remains under investigation.
Susan and Mike Bloom, who live across the street, said they heard no gunshots or sirens and didn’t know anything was going on until they looked out their window to see several emergency vehicles at the scene.
Susan Bloom said she saw the victim taken away on a stretcher but was unable to see much else.
“It was so quiet. There was no shouting, no nothing,” she said. “This was totally out of character for anything in this neighborhood.”
Tax records say the home at 8521 Victory Lane is owned by Harry Troy of Potomac, but according to neighbors the house has been rented out to multiple young men in their mid-20s.
The Blooms have lived in the residential neighborhood for 38 years and say they have had no real problems with the home’s renters who they say have lived there for several months.
“They’ve been really nice,” Susan Bloom said. “There’s just a lot of coming and going we thought was their friends. They do have parties on the weekends.”
