Video Shows Suspects In Burglary Of Historic Church In Potomac: Police
The Montgomery County Police Department released video of suspects in the Nov. 25 burglary of the Scotland AME Zion Church in Potomac.

POTOMAC, MD — The Montgomery County Police Department on Monday released video of a group of suspects in the Nov. 25 burglary of the historic Scotland African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Potomac.
The police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects. The church is located in the 10900 block of Seven Locks Rd. in Potomac.
At about 11 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25, police officers went to the church in response to a burglary that had just occurred. Montgomery County Police said the suspects forced their way into the church, vandalized property and left the scene.

Detectives reviewed the surveillance cameras at the church and found video of the suspects.
The Scotland AME Zion Church has been a center of community for Black congregants since 1924, but its structure was nearly destroyed and left unusable by a flood in 2019. The church and its community partners in Montgomery County have launched a multiphase project to repair and restore the building.

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspects. Callers may remain anonymous, police said.
