A Week in Review: Break-ins, Wells Run and the Primary

After several weekend break-ins in College Park, we talked to Lt. Wayne McCully from the University Park Police Department about how crime in neighboring towns affect them.

No sooner had we spoken to him, Patch learned of a University Park break-in and then a first-degree assault.

Hyattsville's city council finally made a decision about the memorandum of understanding concerning Wells Run. The council did vote to sign it, but it sounds like there might have been some trepidation.

Although many parents have stretched their wallets this month buying school supplies for their children, many teachers also spend a lot on their classrooms and students.

In sports, we learned about a soccer league where participants learn the European-style. Parkdale football has had two big games against High Point and Henry Wise.

Riverdale Park had its legislative meeting this week and a summary of the meeting can be found here. The Riverdale Park Business Association wants to recruit more members and they are looking for people to nominate for their board in November. CKAR CDC, or the Central Kenilworth Avenue Revitalization, nominated its board members Thursday evening in a meeting. The group will be working towards bringing economic development to Kenilworth Avenue.
