A Week in Review: Primary Election, Town Hall Meetings and Sports
A look at the most notable events for the week of Sept. 13 to Sept. 19.

If you didn't see me post Election-extravaganza, you're lucky. I was running on fumes and lots of caffeine, but my fellow PG County Patch editors and I got you the most up-to-date coverage of the primaries from the lack of lines at the polls to the final tally of votes at 4:58 a.m. Wednesday morning.
We briefed you on who was running for the school board and discussed the anticipated results from the county executive election. We even sent soon-to-launch Bowie Editor Joshua Flynn on a journey to Six Flags, where he was live for Baker's launch party.
But things continued on in town other than the election, including University Park's Mayor and Council meeting, where they discussed applying for a design grant from the Chesapeake Bay Fund to find greener ways to manage storm water and the town's recent spike in break-ins.

We looked into the plans for a new development only deemed now as the Riverdale Park Project, or a seven-home residential development slated off 47th Avenue. Patch looked at the concerns regarding the new development.
Columnist Sylvia Kane talked about her struggle with being a mom and being super organized. Patch also featured some new faces at the Riverdale Park Farmers Market from the 11-year-old entrepreneur, to the healthy chef, to the wine connoisseurs.

We learned about a program teaching pre-schoolers how to play basketball and about a Riverdale Park woman's walk to cure breast cancer.
Next week, we're anticipating the football game when the Parkdale Panthers face-off the Northwestern Wildcats. We saw a preview of what the game might look like based off how Parkdale and Northwestern played Friday. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens. It may be a great game to take the kids too since it's local and the fall weather is perfect for football!
