PGPD Officers, Recruits 'Run the Beat' in Riverdale

Police were also joined by County Executive Rushern Baker.

Officers and academy recruits from the Prince George's County Police Department were joined by County Executive Rushern Baker Monday morning as they "ran the beat" in East Riverdale.

Starting from the parking lot of Riverdale Plaza, the group completed a two-and-a-half mile circuit through area streets—one small piece of the county-wide Transforming Neighborhoods Initiative.

The event was intended to help police "engage the community and be a visible presence in the neighborhood," according to the department.
