Band Volunteer Pleads Guilty To Sexual Abuse Of Severna Park Student

A Severna Park High School jazz band volunteer from Millersville has pleaded guilty to three counts of sex abuse against a student.

SEVERNA PARK, MD — A Severna Park High School jazz band volunteer has pleaded guilty to three counts of sex offense, admitting he had a sexual relationship with a student, authorities say. Wilbur Jesse Hildebrand, 57, from the 100 block of Solomons Ridge Court in Millersville, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree sex offense charges, while other charges were dismissed.

Police say Hildebrand asked the victim to send him nude photographs, which the student did. The case came to light in October of 2016, when a former Severna Park High School student disclosed engaging in a sexual relationship with Hildebrand. During a search of Hildebrand's home on Oct. 24, police seized several electronic devices that were examined and found to contain images that belonged to the suspect.

At the time of the relationship, Hildebrand was a volunteer with Severna Park High School's jazz band, and frequently provided transportation to the victim, prosecutors say. He began requesting sexual favors from her while in his car, his home, and her home. This exploitation began when the victim was 16 years old.
