Emergency Closing For North Cypress Branch In Severna Park
Part of Cypress Creek in Severna Park has been closed for a week after a wastewater overflow, county health officials say.

SEVERNA PARK, MD — Part of Cypress Creek in Severna Park has been closed for a week after a wastewater overflow, Anne Arundel County Department of Health said late Thursday. Officials ordered the emergency closing and warned against direct water contact for the North Cypress Branch of Cypress Creek off the Magothy River.
The closure followed an overflow of wastewater caused by a broken isolation valve in the air release valve vault at the pumping station, located at 7 McKinsey Road. The overflow of about 15,000 gallons began Wednesday night and continued overnight.
The waterway will be closed until Oct. 25, county officials said. Closure signs have been posted in the impacted area.
