Police Launch 'Operation Lights Out' for Sexual Offenders on Halloween

Anne Arundel State's Attorney Anne Colt Leitess and Anne Arundel County Police Chief Kevin Davis will do their own spot checks in the Pasadena area

Anne Arundel County police will be doing spot checks on the homes of registered sex offenders in the county to ensure they're not interacting with children on Halloween night.

Operation Lights Out will increase patrols to monitor activities of the offenders. Sexual offenders are prohibited from handing out candy. A "no candy" sign is required to be posted on the door of their home, and their front light is to remain off, according to a press release.

To bolster these efforts, Anne Arundel State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess and Anne Arundel County Police Chief Kevin Davis will do their own spot checks in the Pasadena area.

Those who don't comply with the rules could face violation of parole or probation charges, according to the release.
