Update: Missing Senior Citizen Has Been Found

SEVERNA PARK, MD — An 84-year-old resident who was reported missing has been found, the Anne Arundel County Police Department announced Tuesday afternoon on its Facebook page.

William Merelman had disappeared from his home in the 300 block of North Drive in Severna Park at about 5:30 p.m. Monday. Officers and volunteers went door to door and searched for him for hours in the heat on Monday evening and Tuesday, the police said, and other residents supported the searchers with food, water and ice.

"We are so glad his family is at peace knowing he is safe." the department said Tuesday in a 4 p.m. post on its Facebook page.

The department also thanked other government agencies that joined the search, including the Maryland State Police and Natural Resources Police, and the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks.
