Severna Park Man Charged With Sexually Abusing Minor: Police

Mark Anthony Thoms, 39, of Severna Park faces 12 charges involving the sexual abuse of a minor.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — A 39-year-old Severna Park man has been charged with 12 crimes including sex abuse of a minor, third-degree sex offense, fourth-degree sex offense, sexual solicitation of a minor and second degree assault.

On April 9, Anne Arundel County police officers received a report of a juvenile who had been sexually abused. The parents learned that their child had been texting Mark Anthony Thoms who also had sexually abused their child.

On April 15, the juvenile was taken by a parent to the Child Advocacy Center to be interviewed with the assistance of a child abuse detective. During the interview, the victim disclosed there were numerous incidents during which the victim was sexually abused by Thoms over the course of several months.

Working in conjunction with the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office, an arrest warrant was obtained that same day for Thoms who was apprehended without incident. The Anne Arundel County Police Department is urging any other victims or anyone with information about this incident or suspect to contact the Anne Arundel County Child Abuse Unit at 410-222-4733.
