Severna Park Mom's $100K Win To Pay For Tropical Vacation
A Severna Park mom who won $100K on a scratch-off game plan first vacation in 10 years.

SEVERNA PARK, MD — A Severna Park woman who won a $50,000 crossword scratch-off prize a few years ago recently returned to the Maryland Lottery’s Winner’s Circle to claim a prize double that size. She had a feeling that she’d soon receive another visit from Lady Luck and she was right, says the Maryland Lottery in a news release.
The Anne Arundel County resident found her winning game waiting at Broadneck Exxon in Annapolis, where she stopped to pick up a few 50x The Cash scratch-offs to play before heading off to work.
“When I went into the store to buy my tickets, I asked the clerk to pick them for me,” she told lottery officials. “When I first scratched the ticket, I knew I was a winner but I didn’t know how much I had won and that’s when I asked the clerk to scan the ticket. He told me he thought I had won big.”

When she realized her instant ticket was worth $100,000, she said, “I got the shock of my life.”
The 63-year-old mother plans to enjoy her prize by treating herself to a tropical beach vacation. “I haven’t taken a vacation in over 10 years,” she said in the lottery news release.
