Soccer Captain Volunteers, Studies Hard In Severna Park: Star Student
This soccer captain excels off the field with her volunteerism and schoolwork. The Severna Park native will now play college soccer.

SEVERNA PARK, MD — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Kim Holmes who nominated Sydney, a high school senior from Severna Park.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Sydney is smart, kind, caring, and excels in everything she does. She somehow balances her extremely rigorous school schedule with competitive year-round soccer and several volunteer activities, including backpack/toy drives, making lunches for the homeless, and volunteer coaching. She has a 4.54 cumulative GPA, has taken 11 AP classes, and is a member of the National Honor Society and National Science Honor Society. She was a captain on her high school soccer team, where she also received a Varsity letter all four years. She will attend the University of Rochester in the Fall where she will play soccer and study biology.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Sydney is selfless, driven, and compassionate and we would love to recognize her for being such an amazing person! We are so proud of her and cannot wait to see what her future holds!
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Sydney!
