Summit School Graduates Largest Class Ever
A Severna Park student was among those receiving awards at the graduation ceremony for eighth-graders held on Friday.
Twenty-five students celebrated the conclusion of their time at on Friday as part of the largest graduating class in the history of the Edgewater private school.
In the school’s 22nd commencement ceremony, educators gave speeches about each eighth-grade student's journey at Summit, according to a release from the school.
is a nonprofit school for students in first through eighth grade and offers a “highly-individualized academic program for bright students with dyslexia and other learning differences,” according to the release.

During the ceremony, graduating eighth-graders received awards for excellence both in and out of the classroom.
Adam Taylor of Severna Park received The Donnor Award for "enthusiasm, integrity and responsibility," according to the release. Adam, along with Justin Creeland and Patrick Wallace, also received The Sojourner Award for attending Summit since their primary school years.

Two students from Annapolis received awards: Starr Isacson received The Duff Award for getting the highest GPA of her class and Richard Crabtree earned The Scholar-Athlete Award “for diligence and leadership with academics and sports,” the release said.
Aaron Schmerling graduated from Summit in 2002, but returned to the school for the commencement ceremony to accept the E. Allen Robinson Most Likely to Succeed Award as an alumnus who accomplished personal and professional excellence.
Schermling earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and now works as a financial adviser for Prudential Financial Insurance Co. of America.

- Wye River Upper School
- The Gunston School
- Chelsea School
- Baltimore Lab School
- Bishop McNamara High School
- Jemicy School
- Our Lady of Good Counsel High School
