14 Silver Spring Food Businesses Corrected Critical Violations: Health Inspectors

SILVER SPRING, MD — Officials from the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Health inspected food preparation and storage businesses in Montgomery County. From June 26 to July 11, inspectors identified critical violations at 14 Silver Spring businesses.

All Montgomery County licensed retail food establishments are inspected by the Licensure & Regulatory Services Program. Regular comprehensive inspections include evaluating an establishment's sanitation, maintenance and food service operations. These inspections include monitoring critical temperatures and food handling procedures.

"A Critical Violation means a food safety requirement that requires immediate correction," according to the health and human services website. "Failure for immediate correction results in cessation of some or all food operations or closure of the facility until violation is able to be corrected."

The following Silver Spring licensed retail food establishments avoided closure by correcting critical violations, according to the MCDHealth and Human Services:

• Charley's Philly Steaks at 11160 Viers Mill Road was found to be out of compliance for cold holding temperature and rodent and insects on June 26.
• Ruby Thai Kitchen at 13653 Connecticut Ave. was found to be be out of compliance for cold holding temperature and rodent and insects on June 26.
• Black Diamond Restaurant at 8407 Ramsey Ave. was found to be out of compliance for cold holding temperature and hot holding temperature on June 26.
• Kusshi Ko at 8512 Fenton St. was found to be out of compliance for cold holding temperature on June 26.
• Rohobot Ethiopian Restaurant at 7833 Eastern Ave. was found to be out of compliance for cold holding temperature on June 26.
• Kook Kai's Thai Noodles at 8211 Georgia Ave. was found to be out of compliance for cold holding temperature on June 27.
• Palisades Lounge at 8661 Colesville Road was found to be out of compliance for cold holding temperature on June 27.
• El Sabor Latino Bakery and Catering at 11413 Grandview Ave. was found to be out of compliance for proper hand washing, cold holding temperature and hot holding temperature on June 28.
• Pizza Bolis at 7831 Eastern Ave. was found to be out of compliance for cold holding temperature on June 29.
• Isushi at 11160 Veirs Mill Road was found to be out of compliance for food protected from contamination on June 29.
• Indochine Express at 15416 New Hampshire Ave. was found to be out of compliance for cold holding temperatures; hot holding temperatures; and rodent and insects on July 7.
• 7-Eleven #39794A at 16201 New Hampshire Ave. was found to be out of compliance for proper hand washing and cold holding temperature on July 7.
• Dunkin Donuts at 15509 New Hampshire Ave. was found to be out of compliance for cold holding temperature on July 7.
• Pollo Central at 11160 Veirs Mill Road, Suite FC03 was found to be be out of compliance or cold holding temperature on July 11.
