1. MD Navy Officer Convicted Of Cyberstalking Ex-Wife: DOJ (patch.com) — Silver Spring residents are learning that a local Navy lieutenant commander has been convicted of cyberstalking his ex-wife after years of harassing emails and false reports to employers and child protective services. Federal investigators, including FBI and NCIS, built a case showing he tried to get her, their children, and her new partner evicted, investigated, or fired, and he now faces up to five years in prison at sentencing in March.
   

2. Student Injured In Stabbing At Montgomery County High School (patch.com) — Parents and students in Silver Spring are on alert after a student at Wheaton High School suffered a minor hand wound in a stabbing during an altercation between two boys. Police say the injured student did not need hospital treatment, but the suspect left campus and remains at large as investigators continue to gather details.
   

3. Montgomery Parks Reopens Ellsworth Urban Dog Park in Downtown Silver Spring (sourceofthespring.com) — Ellsworth Urban Dog Park in downtown Silver Spring is back open with new turf mounds, shade, seating, and an ADA-accessible entrance from Colesville Road after a long renovation. A key stretch of Sligo Creek Parkway has also reopened with safety upgrades, and trail work now links to the new Silver Spring Greenway, while Purple Line construction along Wayne Avenue continues toward a 2027 opening.
   

4. Descendants Petition State to Disinter Bodies Buried at Silver Spring Site (mymcmedia.org) — Community members tied to Silver Spring’s historic Mt. Zion Church are petitioning Maryland transportation officials to carefully disinter and reinter bodies believed buried near Seminary Place and Georgia Avenue before ongoing road work continues. Descendants want any remains protected, moved respectfully, and honored with a memorial park recognizing this historically Black community and those possibly buried there, including former slaves.
   

5. Silver Spring Couple Raising Future Service Dog for Canine Companions (sourceofthespring.com) — A Silver Spring couple, Bruce and Kitty Robinson, are spending the next 18 months raising Mystic, an eight-week-old Labrador/Golden Retriever mix, as a future service dog. Working with Canine Companions, they’ll handle early training and socialization before Mystic continues advanced preparation to assist a person with disabilities, and the nonprofit is inviting other local families to consider puppy-raising, too.
