Did you know that dancing is good for your health? That’s right, not only is dancing a fun and social activity – it’s healthy! Dancing has been shown to aid in stress management and improve cognitive health, balance, cardiovascular health, bone health, energy levels, and confidence as we age. That’s why The Leggett at Elizabeth Square, a 62+ community located in downtown Silver Spring, is hosting a free Community Folk Dance class, and you’re invited!
Community Folk Dance is a multi-cultural artform in which participants dance in various formations to a fiddler who plays traditional British, Irish, and French Canadian jigs and reels. The Leggett’s Community Folk Dance class will be led by Kappy Laning and Sarah Foard of Carpe Diem, a nonprofit organization serving diverse audiences with quality arts experiences.
Get your groove on and RSVP for the free Community Folk Dance class by emailing RSVP@LeggettEvents.com. Your reservation includes a tour of The Leggett at Elizabeth Square, the Community Folk Dance class, and lunch. Space is limited, RSVP today.
In addition to the Community Folk Dance class, The Leggett will host free events throughout the summer! Follow The Leggett on Facebook at The Leggett to keep up with our event schedule.
