Drake, Samuel L. Jackson-Backed Hot Chicken Coming To MoCo: Report

A national hot chicken restaurant chain with celebrity investors will be opening a franchise in Silver Spring, according to reports.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A franchisee of Dave's Hot Chicken, a national restaurant chain that counts Drake and Samuel L. Jackson among its celebrity backers, signed a lease to open a restaurant at White Oak Town Center in Silver Spring, reports the Washington Business Journal.

Chris Weilminster, a former top executive with Federal Realty Investment Trust and Urban Edge Realty Trust, heads up the franchise group, which already operates more than a dozen Five Guys restaurants in suburban Maryland, according to the business journal.

The group also has rights to other Montgomery County locations, as well as locations in Charles, St. Mary's and Calvert counties, according to the WBJ report. The group has already signed a deal for its second Maryland location at 2471 Crain Highway in Waldorf.
