The club also re-signs several other key contributors from around the world and the DMV. Fans can expect a largely veteran core heading into the 2026 campaign.
   

2. Red Maple at Rock Creek Shopping Center Shuts Down, Narin Noodle Pho and Grill Planned (sourceofthespring.com) — A familiar Rock Creek Shopping Center spot is changing hands, as Red Maple Asian Bistro on Grubb Road has closed and will soon reopen as Narin Noodle Pho and Grill, operated by a Silver Spring resident. The new Vietnamese restaurant has an “open soon” sign up but no firm opening date yet, while Red Maple Asian Cuisine & Bar in Four Corners remains open for diners.
   

3. Maryland Car Rally Task Force Dismantles Four Illegal Car Rallies, Prevents Three; Four Arrests Made (smnewsnet.com) — Regional police broke up several large illegal car rallies across Howard, Prince George’s, and Montgomery counties, and two of the people arrested are 17-year-olds from Silver Spring. Officers also seized multiple loaded handguns and charged several individuals from Maryland and Virginia. The multi-agency task force says its coordinated enforcement is key to curbing dangerous exhibition driving in the area.
   

4. Dozens in Silver Spring protest ICE agent's killing of Minnesota woman (thebanner.com) — Silver Spring neighbors quickly organized a protest Thursday on the Colesville Road overpass above the Beltway, responding to the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent in Minneapolis. Led by local organizer Jill Ortman-Fouse, several dozen residents gathered with signs over rush hour traffic, turning their outrage into a highly visible call for accountability and change.
   

5. $1M Emergency Funding Plan Introduced to Support Seniors and Vulnerable Residents (mocoshow.com) — Montgomery County leaders are pushing a $1 million emergency funding plan, with details to be unveiled at a press conference at the Silver Spring Civic Center in Veterans Plaza. The proposal would shore up minority health programs, senior nutrition, and home care services countywide after federal and state cuts, aiming to reduce waitlists and protect vulnerable residents who rely on these supports.
