Silver Spring Man Discharges Gun During Dispute With Neighbor: Police
Montgomery County detectives said they determined a fight between the children of the two neighbors happened earlier.
SILVER SPRING, MD — A Silver Spring man is in jail after discharging a gun following a fight with his neighbor, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.
Lewis Stokes, 31, of Silver Spring is facing multiple charges. Police said the incident took place Wednesday in the 12600 block of Farnell Drive during an argument with his neighbor.
Around 8:26 p.m., officers said they responded to the location for a report of a shooting that just occurred.

Detectives said they determined a fight between the children of two neighbors happened earlier. Police said one of the neighbors went to the other neighbor’s home with her family and friends to discuss the fight between their children.
Stokes, exited the home, pointed a gun at the crowd and then discharged it into the air, police said.

According to police, officers arrived at the scene, spoke with witnesses and ordered the occupants inside the home to leave. The witnesses positively identified Stokes as the person who discharged the firearm into the air. Officers then placed Stokes under arrest. Officers recovered a 9mm shell casing in the front yard of the residence.
Officers said they also obtained a search and seizure warrant. A search of the home revealed items of evidentiary value, including a 9mm handgun, a large quantity of controlled dangerous substances and paraphernalia.
Stokes was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit where he was charged with illegal possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, illegal possession of ammunition and reckless endangerment. He is being held without bond.
