Blog in Spanish on Takoma Park Patch

Got something to say? Join us as one of our local bloggers.

Takoma Park Patch has made more room for local bloggers on the site, and we're hoping you'll join in and add your voice and perspective on what it's like to live in our fair city.

We're especially looking for bloggers who want to write in Spanish. Takoma Park is almost 15 percent Hispanic, according to the 2010 U.S. census and we want to have something for all residents.

Our bloggers are local activists, businesses owners and concerned residents. For a taste of what we're talking about, check out some of the folks who are already contributing to our Local Voices feature. (And thanks to Barrie and Joe, who have done a great job so far!)

But now we're looking for some others to join them—people who can riff on various topics, share their personality and engage our readers in discussions:

  • Are you an expert craftsman or hobbyist who can share do-it-yourself tips?
  • Do you have strong opinions about local government?
  • Can you just make us all laugh?
  • Can you write compellingly?

Then, we want to hear from you.

This isn't a reporting job. It's blogging. You write what you want to say when you want to say it. Do it on your schedule, whether that's posting multiple entries per day or a couple times a month.

Patch won't own what you post, so you can repost your entries to your own blogs if you like. Much like The Huffington Post has done, Patch is providing local bloggers an online platform to have their words seen by a larger audience.

Be interesting. Be provocative. Be yourself.

My role as editor would be to review blog entries submitted to Takoma Park Patch to ensure quality. I may make small spelling, grammar and style changes to help your blog shine.

If you'd like to chat about the opportunity to share your unique voice with our readers, let me know by e-mailing ryanm@patch.com or by calling me at 301-915-4886.
