Capitol Heights Man Arrested for Attempted Kidnapping in Takoma Park
Fredy DeJesus Monroy, 37, is being held for kidnapping.

A Capitol Heights man was arrested Tuesday for attempted kidnapping, false imprisonment, second degree assault and malicious destruction of property in Takoma Park, police said.
On April 12, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue for the report of an attempted kidnapping. The victim was walking home northbound on New Hampshire Avenue through a parking lot when a pick-up truck pulled up beside her. Fredy DeJesus Monroy, 37, exited the vehicle and attempted to grab her and put her in the truck. The victim was able to pull away and several cars passing by stopped to help her. The suspect got back into
his truck and fled northbound on New Hampshire Avenue, police said
Monroy was developed as a suspect and on Oct. 11 a warrant was applied for and obtained. With the assistance of Capitol Heights Police and Seat Pleasant Police, Takoma Park Police, Monroy was taken into custody and transported to the
Takoma Park Police Department. Monroy is being held pending a hearing before a Commissioner.
