About 246,978 voters cast their ballots in Montgomery County, representing a turnout that was below the state average.

In Montgomery County, 38.92 percent of registered voters turned out for the election, versus 44.72 percent across Maryland.

Absentee ballots must still be counted, a process that will get underway in the coming days. There were more than 10,347 absentee ballots sent in Montgomery County, state election officials reported.

Official results will be certified by local boards, then state officials before they are delivered under seal on Dec. 10, according to the Maryland State Board of Elections.
